The African Water Association in cooperation with the World Bank Institute and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (Uganda) are planning to set up the African Water Academy to address water challenges in the region. The academy, “whose country of location is yet to be agreed upon, is being set up against the background of the weaknesses in the current approaches to capacity building and management in the water and sanitation sector”.
The announcement was made during a two-day regional workshop on “Development of Leadership and change management within the water sector in the African urban environment” held on 05-06 June 2008 in Kampala, Uganda.
